A woman on Bulgarian Idol tried to sing Mariah Carey's "Without You". She thought the song was called "Ken Lee", (Without you). Good for a laugh. Got to admire her confidence.

Eight Weeks and Thank you
Today is the eight week mark since John's stroke. On one hand it's hard to believe eight weeks is already over and conversely it's hard to believe that has only been eight weeks. At the start of this experience everything happened very rapidly. Over the intervening weeks, as the initial danger passed, things slowed down to a more manageable pace. Through help of a network of friends and relatives many tasks were accomplished. We appreciate everyone who lent a hand. I know it won't be the last time assistance will be needed. You are all good people and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If we can assist you in any way please call on us.
John is still continuing to improve. The changes are different now, there aren't as many drastic "oh wow that is a new skill" type changes as has been in previous weeks. It has been more of tweaking of the skills he has regained. John is able to get around quite well on his own, he has learned to adapt quickly. John is increasingly more interested in being more involved in the day to day tasks of running the house / life. I see this as another positive step in his recovery. Please continue to pray that his recovery continues to improve and that we can discern the things we need to do going forward.
Thank you,
The Brooks and Sweigart Families.

John and Evie's visit
The past four days we have had the pleasure of hosting John and Evie Sweigart. They came down to visit with John and the rest of the family.
As with most visits it seemed to short. We wish them safe travels as they head back to PA.
This picture was taken on Mother's Day at Osaka Japanese Restarunt.

Gun Range
For the last twelve weeks Joanna and I have been taking part in the Citizens Police Academy with Humble PD. We have been shown around the various aspects of what police do. We have gone over traffic stops, use of force, and many other topics. However, last night was my favorite subject, firearms instruction.
We were able to shoot each caliber of gun the PD carries. We shot a 9mm, .38, .40, .45, and an MP5 machine gun. We had a blast. Enjoy the photostream.

Great Strides
It's really amazing how much things change in a day. John is now able to walk around without the aide of a cane. He still uses the wheelchair but only while out of the house to avoid fatigue. The cane is still helpful if he is in areas where tight maneuvering is required. John has also learned how to "scoot" up the stairs so he is able to access the master bath, which is located upstairs.
John's evaluations at TIRR have been completed and a schedule has been set for his therapy. He will be receiving three hours of therapy a day, three days a week. Our hope is that John will continue to progress in the manner he has till this point. He has been very motivated to get well and get back in to the swing of things.
As always feel free to e-mail or call if you want any information.
Thanks,
Bryan
